On the occasion of the 50th birthday of bank president Konrad Turner, director Walter must let 85 people go, including Tibitz Levitzky. The director advises him to visit the president's home in the afternoon and talk him out of letting him go. Levitzky goes to the president's house and is hit by a car driven by Turner's daughter Marianne. He is taken into the house where he is mistaken for the son of an old friend, whom Turner would like to wed Marianne. The next day he is treated like royalty at the bank and Marianne asks him to play the part of her boyfriend for her father. He is soon sent on a business trip to America and receives a promotion on his return. After his identity is revealed to Turner, he accepts the young man as his son-in-law based on the merits of his character.
