good story with a moral

This is, as stated, a different approach to the otherwise classic (by now) film version of the R.L.Stevenson novel. In my humble opinion, it is one of the best interpretation/presentations I have seen. If you have read the book, I recommend grabbing this film from here on Zeus. Every other treatment of this novel seems to be a variation on a "monster-movie" theme, whereas this film, like the book stresses Hyde's behavior and personality change. One could ironically reduce the formula to simple metaphor of alcohol's effect on a tea-teetotaler and be expressed as an extreme display of that psycho-pathology; were it not for the subjective reporting of the novel's narrator keeping us at a safe distance from Hyde's mind
Tracy is very much the 1931 version of a Hollywood Movie Star, but his performance is not so much in the transformation into Hyde, as how very much separate and different from the good doctor Jekyll he actually is.
