This was a gift for my husband, who had asked for it. He loved it and was very pleased.

One tends to forget that the British film studios were turning out musicals in the 1930's but they did and this is one of the best. An interesting story and lots of good songs. I was very impressed with both the picture and sound quality.

I have been a fan of this film for years, probably the best musical Britain produced in the 1930's. Jessie Matthews is both talented and charming, with fine supporting characters throughout. The production numbers are most interesting and highlight the star's dancing and singing. After seeing this, I also watched "First A Girl", and found that delightful as well, showing Miss Matthews' stardom as well earned. Your viewing or collection of 1930's musicals will never be complete without this splendid film. It made me a Jessie Matthews fan for life. - John -

I urge everyone reading this to purchase Evergreen. I did so after seeing the film on the Turner Classic Movies channel. Apparently Jessie Matthews is a legend in England but I suspect you, dear reader, never heard of her unless you, too, saw the movie on TCM. The formula for a great movie is: a great story, great acting and unforgettable music. This movie fulfills the equation in spades. Matthews is utterly, completely adorable--lovely to look at, a great voice, a dancer--this is a feel good film par excellence. Don't deny yourself such a treat. Buy Evergreen today!
