Glenn Ford plays Martin Eden, an aspiring writer who signs on a merchant ship as a sailor. Tormented by the ship's sadistic captain (Ian McDonald), Eden survives the voyage, determined to write an expose of his horrible experiences. At first opposed by the maritime authorities, Martin's book becomes a best-seller. Its publication results in punishment for the wicked captain and the exoneration of a sailor (Stuart Erwin) accused of murder. Based on Jack London's semi-autobiographical novel, Adventures of Martin Eden earned a minor niche in media history as the first major-studio film to be released to television.
 
Region 0 (ALL), will play in all DVD players, 87 minutes, Black and White, Columbia Pictures, good print.

    Wow, and oh my... thank you so very kindly!!! I loved getting this movie, and seeing Glen Ford's excellent work! Again, I may have an old tv screen to use for seeing videos, but, I am easy-to-please and just very very thankful to even be able to buy these! The normal-tv quality, is what I am used too--though not sure what more well-to-do folks, may have-or-want, as to modern players, etc... (I add this, as, I have seen many reviews on many store-sights, and folks have various ideas, as to what they expect) ...thus MY review is for those of us that LOVE these old hard to find movies, and really appreciate them in ALL THEIR glory, :) again-- thank you, I LOVED IT!!!
