The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz (1974)
Posted by Unknown on Mar 24th 2018
An excellent adaptation of the classic Canadian novel by Mordecai Richler. The screenplay was done by Richler himself, and all the actors are top-notch, especially young Richard Dreyfuss in the title role. He captures Duddy's nervous energy and his inner conflict beautifully. Also worth mentioning are Jack Warden as Duddy's father Max, and Randy Quaid as Duddy's epileptic friend, Virgil. Although many events and characters from the book are missing, this film still manages to capture the essence of Richler's masterpiece.
