Director James Ivory (The Remains of the Day, Howard's End) directed this graceful adaptation of the Henry James novel about expatriate Americans who return to the United States to visit their cousins. Lee Remick stars as Eugenia Young ,a European baroness in her mid-30s separated from her husband, arrives in Boston to visit her stuffy relations. At the same time, another European family member, Robert (Robin Ellis) appears at the doorstep of the Bostonians. Soon enough, Eugenia and Robert's European ways wreak havoc upon the staid Puritans of Boston.
