I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's not the usual type of family comedy that I was used to, maybe it's the Canadian culture. Whatever it is that makes it quirky, it is a warm, funny anc charming movie involving the coming of age of the youngest member and the varied, loving support he receives from his family.

This nostalgic story about a boy's coming of age is filled with humor, tenderness, and understanding. Charles Boyer, as the fine actor he is, presents the father as a strong, loving parent and a tolerant and affectionate brother. Supporting cast members are quite good. The film contains many funny lines and a repeated viewing always seems to reveal more. The French accents (and no close captioning) make this a movie to watch several times to get all the subtle humor. I have enjoyed this many times.
