The Macomber Affair (1947)

This might possibly have been the best movie ever made from a Hemingway work if only the producers had done two things, followed the ending that Hem wrote and re-thought the casting. Seems to me that Gregory Peck would be better in the part that George Brent plays, and vice versa. Also, the film makers turned Hem's wonderfully ambiguous ending into sentimental slush. Other than that, quite an engaging and well-done film. The sexual tent-hopping is quite realistic and daring for its day.
