It's a wonderful lost movie. A true gem.

The film was good quality, clear, and I had no problem with any drop-outs while watching it (multiple times now). I don't find it, in spite of the imdb info, very funny or "screwball". Barrymore is magnificently understated and uses his skills at listening and contained reaction very well. He excels at trying to be strong and share his fears with his chattering wife, who he does not want to upset. The family is a little annoying, actually, but the son seems to be a good foil eventually for dad's desperation. It's a good film about how the surface of a successful life/family can hide a great deal of conflict, pain, and despair. Some interesting camera work for exposition's sake, but it doesn't get int he way of the film. Nice, underrated LB performance, interesting exploration of family and success.
