Madeleine Carroll in Technicolor

Another Madeleine Carroll film with Screenwriter Virginia Van Upp, Director Edward M. Griffith and Dress designer Edith Head yet it didn't fit the usual mold. Tanned and showing more of her figure in technicolor, Madeleine Carroll not only looked different, she was like another person, but isn't that what acting is all about? This Carroll role was something like the father-daughter film The General Died at Dawn (1936), which took place in China while This setting was in the Caribbean. Her acting as a girl who has been around in both parts was excellent, although there is no comparison between Gary Cooper of the General movie and Stirling Hayden in Bahama Passage. Hayden is indeed a hulk and has a nice voice, but could use more acting lessons. Nevertheless, Carroll and Hayden are two sun glazed beautiful figures surrounded with spectacular scenery which indeed makes it worth watching despite the movie's rather soap opera cadence. While Bahama Passage was a bit weird, I will always give Madeleine Carroll 5 stars for her performance. It is well worth watching just to see her in technicolor.
