I had seen this movie years ago and then never again. I was so happy to stumble upon it on Zeus when I was looking. I look there when I can in case I find another movie I have wanted to see again. I have to pick and choose because so many look good. I love Margret O'Brien anyway. There were so many good stars in this movie too. They were all different faiths and somewhat different lives, but all came together to help an orphaned baby. They became good friends and the welfare of this child held them together. With their love and care she grows into a lovely child. Of course this is 1948 and people were a bit different than today. I think better in many ways. It shows people can get along and even thrive when allowing everyone to have their own beliefs while keeping their own. It is nice to remember there is good in the world with so many bad things going on now. I hope you will give it a look. If you like Margret O'Brien please take a look at Our Vines Have Tender Grapes. The movie has nothing to do with vines or grapes. It is a verse from the bible. Edward G. Robinson plays her dad and Agnes Morehead her mother. I have never seen Robinson play the sweet man he plays in this movie. He was wonderful, and she was great as always. It has family values we can all identify with while growing up. The story is about Margret growing and her love and care for others. She does good things and is a good example for others. She does make one mistake as you will see and is punished for it. It is one of my most favorite movies. My husband watched it and loves it too. Miss O'Brien said in and interview it was one of her favorite movies to make and loved Mr. Robinson.
