I was going to give this film a "2" rating, but I gave it a "3", only due to the wonderful work by
Donald O'Connor and Peggy Ryan, two of the forgotten teams of the movie musical. They have three wonderful numbers together, the best of which is their first number. ("Mother, Mother, Mother") On the other hand, Ann Blyth, is dreadful. It is hard to see from this film, that within one year, she would be nominated for an Oscar, for her work in "Mildred Pierce".
Ms. Blyth later went on to become the supreme, (in my opinion) soprano of the 1950's MGM musical. Unlike the other sopranos, Ms. Blyth was a good dramatic actress and comedianne, which is why her film career went into the late 1950's. You wouldn't know it from this film, however. (Please note: the review listed below, from January of 2023, is NOT my review of this film.)

forget the plot and just enjoy Donald O'Connor,
Peggy Ryan, and Ann Blyth in her first starring role. Very easy to take.
