Ms.Miller works in a burlesque house by nite, although by day, she is in actuality, an heiress. Good numbers, especially the title number, performed by Ms. Miller, in what I think was one of the few times in her early career, that she was allowed to use her own (superb) singing voice. Go figure what was on Columbia Pictures mind in the 1940's, when they consistently dubbed Millers vocals.

The movie was fascinating to watch, it captured my interest immediately! I love Ann Miller, she is dynamic as an entertainer! Enjoyed the music tremendously and the production concepts were outstanding. I believed the story and watched the video a second time, this picture motivated my artistic ambitions!

This is one of about nine movies Columbia made with the incomparable Ann Miller and every one of them that I have seen is a lot of fun, including this one. Its so interesting to watch her dance her way through numbers with all the force and talent of Elenore Powell, but on threadbare Columbia sets that remind you of what maybe the Ed Sullivan show might have put together for Petula Clark to come on and sing Downtown. Also worth noting - this is one of the only times you ever will see Joe Besser's one time vaudeville partner on screen. Joe doesn't really need him, though - I happen to think that Joe Besser is one of the all time comedy greats. Even this movie doesn't quite give him enough to do, even though amazingly his name is above the title along with Miller's. Until I saw this movie, I never would have dreamed this had happened. A good time.
