"Guestward Ho" finally arrived and I just binged it-I should have had more faith. Politically incorrect but very funny, this series is based on real life experiences of Babs Hooten who left New york for a dude ranch in the west. Similar in vein to Green Acres it is extraordinary that this 1960 show still exists. The quality of the episode images vary but that is to be expected. The episodes retain the original advert breaks and they in themselves are a spotlight on the culture of the day and a welcome inclusion. To top it off the lovely Joanne Dru is the main character ably abetted by J Carrol Naish as the con man Indian Hawkeye who is the local businessman always on the make for a quick dollar-think the Indians from F Troop! Underpinning the humor are some very incisive commentaries of life and going back as well as relationship between Native Americans and white settlers as Hawkeye decides to economically take back the lost land. Well worth buying for any baby Boomer with a memory for lost TV classics
