Watching this 1959 live television presentation of Medea, one is struck by how timeless true art is. This doesn't feel like an old TV show, it's thrilling and stunning and devastating. It can be 1939 or 1959 or 2019... this is a piece of classic theatre that compels and rivets the attention. Dame Judith Anderson is mesmerizing and she owns every inch of that stage. I'm writing a book about her co-star and dear friend Henry Brandon, so finding this DVD was so critical. It's very rare and I'm so grateful to Zeus for making this available. My book Henry Brandon King Of The Bogeymen will be available in the Summer of 2018 from BearManor Media. Henry was the perfect co-star, portraying Jason as the object of Medea's destruction. He gives support to the star and never overwhelms, but still commands the stage as her equal... at first. Then she exacts her cruel plan and the results are devastating. What an amazing film.
