These types of films are never made anymore, but they were a staple of the1960s. The film is a personal favorite from my childhood. It is a well paced mixture of con game and romance. Despite the star power of James Garner, Dick Van Dyke, Angie Dickinson and Elke Sommer it rarely sees the light of day. I was very pleased at the quality of the transfer.

When artist Dick Van Dyke accidentally falls into the Seine, his scheming roommate, James Garner, thinks he's dead and immediately starts selling all of his paintings for high prices. He also throws himself at Dick's girl, Angie Dickenson when she comes to Paris for the funeral. When Dick returns and finds out that he must remain dead in order to sell his art, he decides to take revenge on Garner by "staging" his own murder. The finale with James Garner awaiting the dropping of the guillotine blade on his head is priceless. Elke Sommer becomes Dick's new girlfriend and Carl Reiner is wonderful as Garner's non-caring lawyer. This film is a little-known comedy classic and I can highly recommend it.
