When his own country refuses to consider buying his invention -- an electrical x-ray gun -- American inventor Guy Longstreet (Cecil Van Auker) takes it to the warring nations in Europe. Baron Rogniat (Howard Davies) offers to buy it for his country, but the president of one of the opposing nations sends Countess Sonia Varnli (Lenore Ulrich) to halt the sale. The Countess has her maid (future film star Florence Vidor) impersonate her, while she herself goes to work for the Baron. She learns all the secret details of the sale, including the fact that the Baron intends to kill Longstreet once the deal is done. She tells the inventor all of this and they are able to foil the Baron's scheme. When Longstreet proposes to Sonia, she makes him prove his love by destroying his invention before giving her consent.
