The story of president Andrew Jackson from his early years, the film begins when he meets Rachel Donaldson Robards, on a Tuesday - his lucky day. The plot concentrates on the scandal concerning the legality of their marriage and how they overcame the difficulties. A very interesting piece of history and well worth watching.

The grizzled and drawn looking face on our $20 bills, had a life filled with strife. Born posthumously, taken prisoner-of-war, in his teens, Andrew Jackson did more than, earn his nickname of 'Old Hickory,' he lived it. Little did he know, what life would have in store for him, when he met the woman of his dreams, Rachel Donelson. Charlton Heston and Susan Hayward bring Andrew and Rachel Jackson, to life, in this compelling story, in 'The President's Lady,' produced in 1953, by 20th Century-Fox, and directed by Henry King. If you think, citizenship issues, in this year's elections, makes for fascinating and intriguing political ramifications, the challenges and scandal, that faced Andrew and Rachel Jackson, will, really, make you pause. You'll be swept up in the drama, as you see their lives, together, unfold. I, heartily, recommend 'The President's Lady.'
