The Virginian (1929)

If the story is good (novel by O.Wister), the actor is good (Gary Cooper) and the director is excellent (V. Flemings) then the movie is also good. Gary Cooper's first "talkie" gave him the image of a real western hero. It was great to see this golden oldie for the first time.

Gary Cooper as the 1929 movie the Virginian was one of the first talkies coming out of the silent era later one was made with Joel Mcrea not as good as the 1929 movie but Joel Mccrea did an excellent performence

I am a big western movie fan.I have the later version of The Virginian with Joel McCrea and have been looking for the Gary Cooper version for a while. It is fun to compare the two versions. The 1929 version is a bit campy but considering when it was made that is to be expected.Overall if you are a western fan and a Gary Cooper fan you will enjoy this old gem.
